Enabling improved attendance with children and families using restorative approaches
To provide attendance leads to consider the use of key restorative values and techniques to improve attendance.
Objectives
Participants gain knowledge and practice skills in:
- How to use restorative values,
- questions and “I” messages when engaging with children and families
- How to encourage families to find their own solutions to meeting their identified needs
- How to encourage restorative peer support relationships to develop achievable change
- How to use outcome agreements to capture and track and celebrate change
Details
Each session is bespoke to need and includes best practice materials and resources. We invite learners continually to reflect on and share their learning and experience verbally, and/ or written as individuals and in small groups and the whole group. This includes:
- Best practice PowerPoint slides
- speaker input and modelling and walking through best practice
- self reflection activities including polls, questionnaires, and online whiteboard scribing
- question and answer session
- uploaded practical resources with reading references and signposting for future learning
